On September 11, 2007 the Historic Preservation Committee adjusted the boundery for the proposed Local Historic District to include the majority of historic Oakhurst. To find out more about the issues here are links:
Oakhurst Parents of PreSchoolers Have a Baby or Preschool age children? Want something fun to do on Friday Nights? Wind down from your busy week by joining other Oakhurst parents and children in Oakhurst Park on Friday nights for a casual get-together, 5:00 p.m. – sundown. To kick off the summer, on Friday, May 4th, free pizza will be provided on a first come, first serve basis by ONA (bring your own beverage.) Gatherings will continue throughout the summer on Friday nights in Oakhurst Park, across the street from the Boys and Girls club at Third and East Lake. All remaining gatherings will be bring your own appetizers, snacks and drinks. Trash Amnesty begins April 7th!! Items that can be picked up include the following: yard trimmings, building materials (that are not from the work of private contractors), tires, appliances (not containing Freon), and trash that would not normally be placed in pay-as-you-throw (PAYT) bags. Items that will not be collected include liquids, dirt, bricks, blocks, stone, rocks, concrete, or motor vehicle batteries or parts."
